Synopsis

Dark Shadows was a pioneering gothic soap opera that originally aired on ABC from 1966 to 1971. Created by Dan Curtis, the series began as a story about the Collins family with no supernatural elements, a unique approach for daytime television. Art Wallace outlined the show's story, but the unexpected addition of ghosts arrived just six months in, distinguishing Dark Shadows from its contemporaries. The arrival of vampire Barnabas Collins dramatically boosted the show’s popularity and introduced a wide range of supernatural themes, including werewolves, zombies, monsters, witches, warlocks, time travel, and alternate dimensions.
