Synopsis

Flora insisted the lottery had to proceed, claiming Melanie’s life depended on it. Despite protests from Morgan and Quentin, she demanded everyone participate, even the women. Morgan and Quentin chided Gabriel for aligning himself with the women, deeming him a coward for allowing them to take part. Flora prepared the slips of parchment; the one bearing the mark of an X would be confined to the locked room for the night. And so, the lottery commenced.
