Synopsis

A disquiet settled over Ben at the sight of the head. Barnabas encountered Daniel, who recognized him from boyhood in 1797. Barnabas informed him that he was the son of the Barnabas he had known. Gerard recounted witnessing the loss of Quentin and Tad to the sea during a violent storm. Ben recalled a long-ago period when a disembodied head had been linked to a series of murders. He resolved that the head must be destroyed, and was subsequently haunted by it in the woods.
