Leroy Lester, a Commerce Bank employee for many years, was being retired to accommodate a new computer system. A fortunate encounter with the Clampett family sparked an idea about how to handle Mr. Drysdale. Returning to the bank, Leroy found that Mr. Drysdale’s own computer had unexpectedly failed. Mr. Drysdale then offered Leroy his position back, but Leroy informed him that he would be taking a lengthy vacation and residing with his newfound friends, the Clampetts.
