Elly secured a position at Jed's film studio, despite Granny and Jane’s reservations. They feared she would become entangled in the allure of Hollywood. Once there, she encountered the actor Dash Riprock, who was instantly captivated by her – completely unaware that she was to be his co-star, having been led to believe he would be acting alongside Miss Clampett, the studio owner's daughter.
