The sight of Elly May in her swimsuit proved too much for the free-spirited Sheldon Epps, who promptly drove his car into a ditch. Noticing the accident, the Clampetts ushered him inside their home, concerned for his well-being. Though unharmed, he remained, captivated by Elly May’s presence, effectively displacing Dash Riprock in her affections.
