Jed received a movie studio, Mammoth Pictures, from Drysdale, and the Clampetts resolved to see this new acquisition firsthand. Initially, they found themselves unable to gain entry, but eventually they succeeded. There they met Lawrence Chaplin, the head of Mammoth Pictures, who addressed Jed with unflattering comparisons—referring to him as both a "Zucker" and a “Roach.” Jed, surprisingly, admired Chaplin for speaking his mind so directly.
