Mrs. Drysdale was determined to have a truly authentic Thanksgiving photograph, and to that end she arranged for Pilgrim costumes, two men dressed as Native American braves, and a live turkey. The turkey, however, proved elusive, escaping into the Clampetts’ yard where Elly took a liking to it and made it her pet. Granny had visions of roasting it, Jethro dreamed of eating it, and Jed simply couldn't bring himself to harm the bird—it kept insisting on shaking his hand.
