Mr. Drysdale was thrown into a state of considerable distress by his wife’s unexpected return from Boston, fearing she would encounter the Clampetts. He instructed Miss Hathaway to devise a scheme to lure the family away to Palm Springs. Simultaneously, Granny and Jed began to suspect Mrs. Drysdale had taken to drink, and quietly hatched a plan to address the perceived problem.
