A telegram arrived informing Fred of an uncle's passing and, unexpectedly, a bequest of $1500 in his will. The condition for receiving the inheritance was a trip to St. Louis for the formal claim. This presented a significant obstacle, however, as Fred harbored a deep-seated fear of flying, a fear that Lamont was determined to conquer.
