At the request of a long-standing client—a gallery owner—Inogashira made his way to Komagome. His appointment concluded sooner than expected, and he resolved to have an early supper. He wandered through the unfamiliar streets, momentarily captivated by a cluster of elderly men engrossed in a game of shogi. Eventually, he paused before "Washoku-tei," a restaurant offering comforting, home-style set meals.
