The second season of *The Great British Bake Off* saw twelve passionate amateur bakers enter the tent, ready to face a series of delicious challenges – and ultimately, be whittled down round by round. This year brought a change of scenery, with the competition unfolding entirely within the beautiful grounds of Valentines Mansion, a historic 17th-century house in Redbridge. Beloved presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins stepped up to take on an expanded role, now lending their voices to narrate alongside their usual charming on-screen banter – a shift from the previous season’s narration. A new tradition was also born: the coveted "Star Baker" title, awarded weekly to recognize the baker who truly shone. From a pool of over three thousand hopeful applicants, twelve were chosen to brave the heat and pressure, with each episode requiring two grueling fourteen-hour days of filming.
