Synopsis

"Free!" centers on Haruka Nanase, a swimmer whose lifelong love of the water began in childhood. In elementary school, he and his friends Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka start a swim club, competing in tournaments that will define their futures. As graduation approaches and they experience victory together, their paths split when they enter high school. Rin's unexpected return reignites a fierce rivalry with Haruka. Determined to preserve their friendship, Haruka reconnects with Makoto and Nagisa, bringing Rei Ryugazaki into the group. Together, they form the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club, beginning a journey of friendship, self-discovery, and intense competition. Their story shows how swimming becomes more than just a sport – it's their bond, their refuge, and their pursuit of excellence.
