Synopsis

In a rough frontier town filled with cattle drivers and gambling, Sheriff Tom Logan (Robert Ryan) struggles to uphold the law despite failing eyesight. His fiancée Mary (Virginia Mayo) remains a constant source of support. The town's peace is disrupted by the return of a dangerous gambler from Logan’s past, who uses his casino to undermine everything. A confrontation worsens Logan’s vision and complicates his duties. A young cattleman named Jeff McCloud (Jeffrey Hunter) arrives, harboring a deep resentment towards Logan because Logan was responsible for his father's death.
