I viewed this film when it was initially released. I found it to be quite impressive, offering a fresh perspective on the superhero beginnings narrative, combined with a story about a young Black man overcoming difficult circumstances. It’s hard to watch _Sleight_ without feeling like I’d seen these plot points somewhere else, and in a more successful film. However, the fact that this is an original story is definitely a welcome change of pace, and just because another movie handled similar material with greater skill doesn't mean _Sleight_ falls short; it executes its ideas quite well. Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. I’d suggest checking it out.
