The family gathered for Jack’s company picnic. Kevin, however, felt a distinct lack of enthusiasm; he dreaded the possibility of encountering Mimi Detweiler, who had once harbored a secret affection for him. Wayne's new girlfriend, Angela, proved a source of irritation to all but Wayne himself. During the father-son baseball game, Kevin accidentally struck Jack with a baseball. And with a bittersweet farewell, Karen departed for college.
