Granny requested that Jethro teach her how to drive. After only one lesson, however, he refused, and Mr. Drysdale persuaded Jed into purchasing a trotter. The Clampetts simply desired the horse to transport Granny to town whenever she pleased, rather than waiting for Jethro’s availability. When the man arrived with the horse, he brought along a racing buggy – a carriage the Clampetts assumed was just an ordinary, open vehicle.
