The intrusion at the Mac residence sparked in Bernie a stark realization of his family's fragility. He transformed their home into a fortress, layering security measures with an almost obsessive zeal. His friends, however, gently reminded him of the pervasive dangers lurking beyond their walls, a constant chorus that fueled his anxieties and bordered on overprotectiveness, testing the patience of everyone he loved.
