Lamont acquired an antique firearm for fifty dollars and eagerly presented it to Fred. Soon after, Fred, caught up in a bout of war-time reenactment, inadvertently pulled the trigger, unaware the weapon was loaded. The resulting shot shattered the window of the house next door. A man inside, who had just been engaged in a fierce argument with Fred, collapsed immediately. Overcome with horror, Fred concluded he had caused the man's death.
