As Charlene went into labor on New Year’s Eve, Suzanne and Mary Jo hurried her to the hospital, where she found herself longing to be the first mother of the new year. Dolly Parton appears as Charlene’s “guardian movie star,” visiting her in a dream with news of the baby's arrival, while Bernice experiences an unforeseen trip by ambulance.
