Synopsis

The true extent of life within the concentration camps was brought to light with the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bergen-Belsen in 1945. Yet, what became of the prisoners left behind, and the SS guards who remained? The war's final days and the immediate aftermath unfolded as a story of both profound shock and unexpected turns, one where Jewish survivors encountered appalling treatment in their own countries, and a significant number of SS perpetrators managed to evade discovery.
