Synopsis

In 1942, the systematic deportation of Jews from across Europe – encompassing even the Channel Islands – intensified. Overwhelmed by the sheer volume of arrivals, the death camps of Auschwitz and Treblinka were expanded with larger gas chambers and crematoria. Yet, even amidst this horrific chronicle of inhumanity, tales of bravery and kindness persisted, notably the actions of German officer Albert Battel, who risked his own life to aid those imprisoned there.
