There’s been an abundance of exorcism films lately, and most feel derivative, but this one didn’t come off as a terrible imitation, haha. It turned out to be surprisingly good. Certainly not the greatest film in the genre, though it wasn't disappointing.

It seems Russell Crowe had other commitments for this new story about spiritual banishment, so Al Pacino stepped in instead. He portrays Father Theophilus, brought in to assist the hesitant Fr. Joseph (Dan Stevens) with a challenging situation. They’re tasked with freeing young Emma (Abigail Cowen) from an unwelcome presence within her body. His approach doesn't sit well with the inexperienced young father or the nun…
