It seems I didn’t see this at a time when it would have been more enjoyable, which makes it difficult to appreciate now. The concept is bold, the stop-motion animation is passable, and Danny Elfman's score stands out as genuinely good, but even with its short 70-minute length, it felt overextended. Particularly, the musical numbers ran into each other without much breathing room.
