Synopsis

In the near future, Europe is in turmoil as right-wing extremists seize control in many nations. Germany, once a democratic state, has transformed into a totalitarian regime that oppresses those who disagree, including Muslims and homosexuals. Lawyer Jan Schneider has dedicated his career to defending the vulnerable. When he learns the regime intends to imprison him, he resolves to flee with his family. Their destination is the stable South African Union, thriving after an economic surge. A freighter is arranged to transport Jan, his wife Sarah, and their children Nora and Nick to Cape Town, along with other refugees. However, off the coast of Namibia, the tugboats abandon the passengers in inadequate lifeboats. Amidst rough seas, disaster strikes, and young Nick is lost, his fate unknown.
