Synopsis

Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient, Schindler’s List, Oedipus at the National Theatre) stars as Jack Tanner in this lively update of Shaw's sharp and thought-provoking play. Jack Tanner, a famous radical and wealthy bachelor, unexpectedly becomes the guardian of the captivating heiress, Ann. She embraces the role and, despite having a suitor, chooses to marry and control this charismatic revolutionary. Tanner, disturbed by the idea of domestic life, escapes to Spain with the help of his chauffeur and is captured by bandits, where he encounters a mysterious figure who claims to be The Devil. A remarkable dream-argument about good and evil follows. Ann finds him when he awakens, as determined as he is. Blending romance, fantasy, and philosophical discussion, Man and Superman explores the core questions of how we live our lives.
