This was a genuinely pleasing black-and-white crime movie, standing out because it incorporates elements from the story of the Count of Monte Cristo. Seeing Adele Jergens and Glenn Langan together is reason enough to watch; they have a palpable connection, which becomes even more interesting knowing that they married after working on this film—they’re quite attractive as a pair.
