I’m definitely drawn to stories set during World War II, and despite some unevenness in the script and less-than-impressive visual effects, I thought this was a decent war film with solid acting throughout. It might not measure up to classics like those about Midway or Pearl Harbor, but it's still something I’d recommend seeing. **3.75/5**

Films about wartime are only worthwhile when they bring something fresh and inventive to the subject matter; without that, they simply become repetitive versions of movies like 'Pearl Harbour' or 'Fury,' along with countless other loud, action-packed spectacles from recent years. A truly powerful and sensitive movie centered on Midway is possible. What’s presented here isn’t it.
