The youngest werewolf in the group, named Freddy, leads an unusual existence. During daylight hours, he appears as an ordinary person, but under moonlight, transforms into a fearsome lycan – or so he should. However, during his first official ceremony, something goes wrong; instead of becoming a powerful creature, he changes into a poodle with a neat haircut. Feeling humiliated and inadequate, Freddy’s disappointment…

The underlying message in both the book and its film adaptation seems to be about embracing what distinguishes us, and recognizing the value of individuality.
