The moniker "BTK"—Bind, Torture, Kill—was the self-chosen name of the serial killer who haunted Wichita, Kansas, for nearly two decades between 1974 and 1991. Then, he vanished, leaving the city to breathe a tentative sigh of relief. But in 2004, he returned, and fear gripped the Midwestern community once more. For months, he engaged in a calculated game of cat and mouse with law enforcement and the press, relishing their frantic pursuit and the notoriety it brought. Yet, a fatal error was made.
