Top Chef — San Francisco
The inaugural season of *Top Chef*, *Top Chef: San Francisco*, launched in 2006, marking the beginning of a culinary competition phenomenon. Filmed initially in and around the Bay Area – with vibrant kitchen scenes at Paulding & Company in Emeryville – the journey culminated in Las Vegas. For roughly three weeks in late 2005, twelve talented chefs from across the country lived together, battling it out through demanding challenges designed to test their skills and creativity. Hosted by Katie Lee Joel, and judged by renowned chef Tom Colicchio and *Food & Wine*’s Gail Simmons, the season captivated audiences until its finale on May 24th. The ultimate victor walked away with a $100,000 prize, and fans could explore each week's winning recipes online through Bravo’s dedicated *Top Chef* website.
