It’s best to disregard the prejudiced opinions you might find online, and perhaps steer clear of this series altogether. Neil Gaiman may possess talent as a writer; however, similar to what happened with *American Gods*, his involvement in live-action adaptations seems to result in a noticeable decline in quality. It's admirable that he’s spoken up in support of the actors chosen for their roles. Certain installments from the first season are memorable—particularly episodes 1, 4, and 6—while the others are merely passable but ultimately unrewarding. The major event at the midpoint feels underwhelming and is so unimportant that it seemingly has no consequences within the story’s world, nor does anyone reference it afterward. I became so disengaged by the end that I didn't even feel compelled to watch the extra episode, which supposedly features a cat—and I generally enjoy cats. The actors are largely well-chosen, but there are simply too many plot inconsistencies and unnecessary filler material. Perhaps the second season will offer improvements; it’s hard to say.
