Synopsis

The body was sprawled across my rug, a grim punctuation mark on the morning’s quiet. I couldn’t fathom how it had gotten there – no forced entry, no struggle I could recall. It seemed utterly impossible, yet undeniably real. All I could offer as a tentative explanation was a tangle of unsettling possibilities: a blackmail scheme simmering just beneath the city's surface, a gardener with secrets buried deeper than any root system, and something… else. Something green, and wholly inexplicable.
