The teams journey 600 miles from their Panama Canal locks depot in Miraflores to San Jose, Costa Rica, departing in buses spaced thirty minutes apart. Upon arrival, they await the opening of Volcano State Park before receiving a clue hinting at activity at the Doka Estate Coffee Plantation, seventeen miles distant. The "activity" proves to be a Roadblock: one family member must meticulously sift through eight hundred pounds of coffee beans to find a single red one – though one team faces a delay
