The date is unknown. Voyager intercepts a distress signal from Seska, who alleges that Maje Cullah intends to steal her infant – a child she claims belongs to Chakotay. Chakotay is doubtful, yet cannot dismiss the possibility of abandoning his child if the claim proves true. Captain Janeway authorizes a rescue mission, and the ship plunges into the heart of Kazon Nistrim territory. But is Seska telling the truth, or is this all a carefully constructed deception?
