Synopsis

The rejection of his proposal left Thornton and Margaret’s relationship strained and increasingly difficult. Fortunately, Frederick arrived for a visit with his ailing mother. Misunderstanding the situation, Thornton wrongly assumed he was Margaret’s lover. As Margaret began to question the severity of her earlier judgments toward him, she watched with regret as his opinion of her shifted. Shortly after her own mother's passing, Margaret also mourned the loss of her friend Bessy.
