Synopsis

Elena’s first year of high school is marked by a silent determination: to surpass Lila, both in her studies and in the affections of the boys. Lila, however, dismisses the attention of many hopeful suitors, dedicating herself instead to building a life around her work in the shoe shop. Stefano Carracci, envisioning a brighter future for their community, extends a New Year's Eve invitation to Elena, Lila, and their families; but the festive occasion descends into something unsettlingly dark.
