Synopsis

In Japan's high schools, many teens experience "chunibyo"—a desire to stand out that leads them to believe they have secret powers and profound wisdom. Yuta has been battling these tendencies since middle school, slowly trying to move on as he starts high school. But when Rikka, another chunibyo, declares they're soulmates because of their shared experiences, Yuta faces a new challenge. He must confront his past and convince Rikka that their connection isn’t destined. Their story explores the complexities of growing up, finding one's identity, and the sometimes ridiculous ways young people try to define themselves. The series examines chunibyo with humor and heart, balancing the appeal of escapism with the realities of adolescence. The relationship between Yuta and Rikka shows how seeking individuality can create unexpected problems, and the importance of self-understanding before trying to understand others.
