Synopsis

The morning light revealed a grim sight: a dead horse lay stranded on the beach below Montalbano’s house. Not long after, a striking woman entered the Vigata police station to report the theft of her prized racehorse. The ensuing investigation led Montalbano into the refined world of horse racing, and ultimately, to the shadowy realm of Mafia-controlled betting rings.
