Jonathan and Mark attempted to alter the regulations which restricted visits between mothers in prison and their children to a viewing behind a pane of glass. They found it difficult to persuade the warden that this policy required revision, arguing for a system where mothers could see their children without such a barrier. Later that night, one of the warden’s own daughters awoke frightened and began to cry out for her father, only to discover he was unable to offer her comfort with a touch.
