Synopsis

The chief bestows upon Bailey increased authority and a greater measure of responsibility. He also assigns her a particularly challenging surgical case: the removal of a tumor deemed previously inoperable in a young girl. Simultaneously, the newly appointed trauma chief, Owen (Kevin McKidd), begins to question established practices among the attending physicians and the proficiency of the residents.
