Weary of constantly mending the unreliable generator Haney had sold him, Oliver checked to see how his electricity application was progressing. Discovering it hadn’t been sent at all, he resolved to visit the power company directly. He quickly found that nothing in Hooterville proceeded smoothly—or accurately; he left with a meter that continued to register usage even when supposedly disconnected and another utility pole erected right outside his bedroom window.
