Synopsis

Following the guidance of his Victorian Bradshaw’s railway guide, Michael Portillo continues his journey north along Robert Stephenson's pioneering London to Birmingham line. He begins this leg in Leicester, where he investigates ‘the famous crook-backed King Richard III’, whose burial place at Grey Priory is noted in Bradshaw’s. Michael learns about the ongoing search for the king's remains and how scientists were able to confirm that the skeleton discovered beneath a car park was indeed his. F
