Alex adopted a remarkably pragmatic, if decidedly unromantic, strategy for finding the girl of his dreams: he chose a picture from the freshman directory. His selection, Tricia, appeared to embody all his criteria; however, his carefully constructed plan began to unravel when he found himself powerfully drawn to her roommate, Ellen. From their very first encounter, Alex and Ellen seemed to spark with mutual aversion, yet despite this inexplicable animosity, he couldn't stop thinking about her.
