Synopsis

Lieutenant Nathaniel Forbes, a friend of the Collins family known for his interest in their wealth, finds himself unexpectedly captivated by Millicent Collins upon discovering her considerable inheritance as an orphan. Separately, Jeremiah resolves to depart the town, determined to avoid a relationship with Josette that he fears would ultimately wound Barnabas.
