Synopsis

Carolyn stood by the window in the drawing-room, gazing out. David entered, and they spoke. He stopped abruptly, a gasp escaping him. He claimed to have seen an old man standing just beyond the glass. Elizabeth then entered the room. David recounted his sighting to her before departing.
