The show reminded me of Miranda Hart’s UK series, but while Miranda's character—who was tall, large, and awkward—was amusing, Mayim Bialik as Kat isn’t quite the same. At 5'4", a bit heavier, and clumsy, her portrayal just seems depressing rather than humorous. Similar to what happened in *The Big Bang Theory*, Bialik has another male character who is openly gay as a romantic interest, portrayed by Cheyenne Jackson. She was previously married to Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, on *BBT*. It feels strange that she would choose yet another gay man for this role. Also, one of her employees at the cat cafe, Phil, played by Leslie Jordan, is also openly gay. Jordan often plays loud, irritatingly flamboyant gay characters in other series. His voice—high-pitched and with a very exaggerated Southern accent—is incredibly grating to me; it's really unpleasant. Even though Swoosie Kurtz is talented, her character feels like the butt of a joke. Her face looks stretched so tightly that she seems to struggle to deliver her lines, resembling jokes about women who’ve had too many cosmetic procedures, like Phyllis Diller’s routines. This show and *Mr. Mayor* are equally terrible shows that debuted in 2021. I really hope the upcoming programs are significantly better than this.
