Bernard’s annual children’s book day at the shop invariably sparked a wager. This year, Fran proposed to Manni and Bernard that they attempt to craft a story for young readers within forty-eight hours. Bernard countered with a more personal challenge: Fran would endure a thoroughly unpleasant hen party.
