Synopsis

Luxembourg hosted the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest, having last held the event in 1973. Nineteen countries participated that year, a decrease of one from the previous contest due to Greece's withdrawal. Israel also abstained, as the date fell on their Remembrance Day. Ireland, however, returned to the competition and achieved second place. Their entry, "Terminal 3," was penned by Johnny Logan, then known as Sean Sherrard.
