Nineteen delegations gathered in Jerusalem for the competition. Turkey’s participation was withdrawn following pressure from several Arab nations due to the event's location in Israel. Peter, Sue, and Marc represented Switzerland, the 1973 winner, while Anne-Marie David of France returned to compete, and Anita Skorgan sang once more for Norway.
